NHVH - Nikolaus Herzog von Hohenberg (born in Vienna)
is a contemporary artist based in Zurich, Switzerland.
His practice moves between figurative painting and abstraction, fragmented forms express
his mark-making to explore the tension between recognition and distortion.
In his work structures are to be deconstructed and rebuilt. What initially appears, gradually shifts into something more ambiguous — a composition where identity, emotion and perception remain in constant movement. His works exist between control and spontaneity. The resulting pieces retain the immediacy while maintaining a strong presence.
Rather than seeking a literal representation of the subject, NHVH uses intimacy as a starting point for exploring perception, identity and the space between the familiar and the abstract.
NHVH's work is rooted in an ongoing dialogue between color, form and movement, creating images that are at once recognisable and deliberately unresolved.
